The emblem of Sports Association of the Disabled "START" is the image of a person standing up from a wheelchair, which symbolises the aspiration to practise sport for the purpose of overcoming disability. START is the oldest Polish organization that uses sport in rehabilitation. In 1961 when motivated with ideas of world-famous professor Wiktor Dega, an initiator of Polish physiotherapy school, we started adaptive sports for disabled. Members of the Association represented Poland during all Paralympic Games, won hundreds of medals and many times were the Polish, European and World Champions. We also introduced in Poland the camp system for disabled.
